The Challenge
This project called for students to create a mobile and smartwatch app for the Parks Canada reservation system.
There was exploration of the target user, persona development, task flow, visual analysis, and app development.
As a constraint, the mobile app was to follow Material Design Guidelines, and the following smart watch app was to follow OS Wear Guidelines.
The Process
My first task was defining a user statement:
“As a hardworking post-graduate, I want to easily reserve campsites, so that I can have a stress-free road trip this summer.”
From here, I was tasked with developing a user persona, their problems, and their journey.

Journey Map
High-Level Task Flow
After fleshing out the user, as a larger team, myself and other students developed the flow for the existing Parks Canada product.
Visual Analysis
I conducted a visual analysis of the original app in order to better familiarize myself with Android’s Material Design, as well as Parks Canada’s brand guidelines.
Adapted Visual Style
My newly proposed visual system for the Parks Canada app included brighter pops of colour that were included in their very own design standards. I aimed to modernize and improve visual interest within the app.
